Vicki Vargo Is A Change Agent

Vicki Vargo is a second-generation American and a proven change agent in Orange County — someone who doesn’t just talk about change, but delivers it. Inspired by grandparents who escaped oppression in Hungary, Vicki learned early the importance of integrity, community, and standing up for what’s right.

From expanding access to affordable housing — including townhomes, condominiums, and tandem housing for first-time homeowners — to ensuring responsible government spending, Vicki has spent decades on the frontlines fighting for Central Florida families.

Experience That Delivers Results

Vicki brings real-world experience across government, law, and community leadership:

  • Former Orlando City Councilmember (District 3)
As an Orlando City Commissioner, Vicki supported and assisted with bringing the FAMU law school to downtown Orlando. Vicki voted to simultaneously promote the first black Chief of the Orlando Police Department, Jerry Demings, and the first black Chief of the Orlando Fire Department, Charlie Walker. She represented residents for six years, fighting for affordability, accountability, and transparent local government while working closely with the Florida League of Cities. She built both the Rosemont and College Park Neighborhood Centers in the same year!
  • Former Attorney for The Housing Authority of the City of Orlando
Worked directly on housing and affordability issues impacting working families and vulnerable populations — experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to tackling homelessness and housing instability.
  • Real Estate & Housing Attorney (28+ years)
Practiced real estate law at Aksell & Vargo, P.A., and previously served as Department Managing Attorney at Anderson & Rush, overseeing large-scale real estate, landlord-tenant, and mortgage foreclosure matters.
  • U.S. Census Bureau – Field Representative (2020)
Canvassed diverse and historically underrepresented communities to ensure fair representation and accurate allocation of resources.
